The gap between Sydney house and unit prices is wider than ever, with houses now costing $862,788 (109%) more than units, according to Domain.
In the June 2024 quarter, the median house price in the capital city increased by about $21,000 (1.3%) to reach a record high of $1.66 million; this is the sixth consecutive quarter of growth.
The median unit price, however, dropped by about $5,000 (0.6%) from the previous quarter to $797,212. This decline follows five consecutive quarters of gain.
While the rates of growth for both houses and units have slowed and are at their lowest levels since September 2023, the data reveals that prices have increased by $220,000 (15.2%) and $46,000 respectively since December 2022.
